CSM students have the option of participating in MyPath2ASU. To qualify for the MyPath2ASU, CSM students must:

• Graduate from CSM with an associate degree with a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA, OR
• Completion of 24 or more transferable semester credits post-high school with a minimum cumulative transfer GPA of 2.50 and verification of high school graduation or the equivalent. 
• Submit an Arizona State University admission application, including an application fee and other required documents, such as official college/university transcripts. 

Students who participate in MyPath2ASU will receive:

• Guaranteed general admission to ASU and admission into major of choice if all requirements are satisfied (note: some majors have additional or higher admission requirements).

The College of Southern Maryland has a transfer agreement with Capitol Technology University to create a smooth transfer between our Associate of Science in Engineering and CTU's Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering.

Grade Requirement: Students must complete all coursework with a C or higher. 

Grade Point Average Requirement: Students who graduate with a 2.5 GPA will be automatically accepted into the B.S. in Mechatronics Engineering degree program at CTU. Students who complete the associates degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and subsequently attend Capitol in either on campus or synchronous online program full-time will receive transfer scholarships of up to $10,000 per year. 

Chemistry Requirement: Students interested in this pathway should complete CHE-1350 at CSM.

Technical Electives: EGR-2210, EGR-2310, EGR-2310L, EGR-2440, CSC-1390

Additional Notes: Students who take BAD-1015 (formerly ECN-1015) may substitute the course for BUS-301 at CTU. 

The College of Southern Maryland has a transfer agreement with Frostburg State University to create a smooth transfer between our Associate of Science in Engineering and Frostburg's Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Materials Engineering Concentration.

The College of Southern Maryland has a transfer pathway with George Mason University to create a smooth transfer between our Associate of Science in Engineering and Mason's Mechanical Engineering.

Grade Requirement: Students  must have completed the equivalent of MATH 113 (CSM's MTH-1200) and MATH 114 (CSM's MTH-1210) with grades of A or B in each MATH course before applying to Mason. All courses must be completed with a grade of C or better. 

Grade Point Average Requirement: To qualify for CSM's Guaranteed Admission Agreement with George Mason University, students must graduate from CSM with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85 upon application to Mason. 

Chemistry Requirement: Students interested in this pathway should complete CHE-1350 at CSM.

Technical Electives: EGR-2200, EGR-2210, and CSC-2591.

Additional Notes:

• CSM students applying under this Agreement are automatically considered for a non-resident Patriot Transfer Scholarship. Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.85-3.49 are considered for a $10,000 annual award. Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5-4.00 are considered for a $12,000 annual award. Recipients must be classified as non-residents of Virginia and maintain full-time enrollment each fall and spring semester. The scholarship is offered for 2 academic years. Students are required to maintain a minimum 2.75 Mason GPA. 
• Students need to complete COM-1010 instead of COM-1650.
• Students should take ECN-2020 and GRY-1050 for their Social/Behavioral Science.
• Recommended Arts courses include: ART-1010, ART-1020, ART-1030, ART-1200, MUS-1020, MUS-1201, MUS-1202, MUS-1203, MUS-1204, THE-1010.

The College of Southern Maryland has a transfer pathway with North Carolina State University to create a smooth transfer between our Associate of Science in Engineering and NC State's Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Grade Requirement: Students must complete all coursework with a C or higher. Earn a minimum 2.5 mathematics grade point average on last two math courses at Calculus I or higher

Grade Point Average Requirement: Earn a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Due to high demand, some programs are much more competitive and preference is given to higher GPAs. In some cases, applicants with 3.0 ≤ GPA < 3.5 may increase their competitiveness with strong performances in additional, technical coursework (e.g., Calculus III, Physics II, Engineering Statics, Chemistry II, Organic Chemistry, etc.). 

Chemistry Requirement: Students interested in this pathway should complete CHE-1200/L and CHE-1210/L at CSM. Students attempting to transfer with only CHE-1350 will be required to take NC State's CH-102 upon transfer. 

Technical Electives: EGR-2210, EGR-2320, EGR-2200.

Additional Notes: 

• Students need to take ENG-1020 as their Humanities course. Students will also need to take an additional Humanities course.
• Students can fulfill the Arts requirement at NC State by complete ART-1010, ART-1020, or MUS-1020. 
• Students need to take ECN-2020 as one of their Social/Behavioral Sciences (students can work with a CSM Academic Advisor to request a pre-requisite waiver).

The College of Southern Maryland has transfer guides with Pennsylvania State University - Harrisburg to create a smooth transfer between our Associate of Science in Engineering and Penn State Harrisburg's Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Grade Requirement: Students must complete all coursework with a C or higher. 

Grade Point Average Requirement: Students are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. GPAs are recalculated to include all courses and grades, including all repeated courses, from all colleges/universities previously attended. 

Chemistry Requirement: Students interested in this pathway should complete CHE-1200/L and CHE-1210/L at CSM.

Technical Electives for Civil Engineering: MTH-2220, EGR-2210, CSC-1390, GEO-1010

Additional Notes: 

• Students are required to have completed MTH-1130 or higher at CSM or trigonometry or higher from high school.

The College of Southern Maryland has a transfer agreement with Stevenson University to create a smooth transfer between our Associate of Science in Engineering and Stevenson's Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering.

Grade Requirement: Students must complete all coursework with a C or higher. Courses used to fulfill only general education requirements are eligible for transfer if students have earned a grade of "D" or better.

Grade Point Average Requirement: Students must graduate with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average. 

Chemistry Requirement: Students interested in this pathway should complete CHE-1200/L and CHE-1210/L at CSM.

Technical Electives: CHE-2200/L and BIO-1060/L. 

The College of Southern Maryland has a transfer agreement with Temple University to create a smooth transfer between our Associate of Science in Engineering and Temple's Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Grade Requirement: Students must complete all coursework with a C or higher. 

Grade Point Average Requirement: Students who participate in the Dual Admission program will be guaranteed admission if they graduate from CSM with a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA. 

Chemistry Requirement: Students interested in this pathway should complete CHE-1350 at CSM.

Technical Electives: CSC-2020, EGR-2720, EGR-2200, EGR-2210.

Additional Notes: Students should apply for the Dual Admission program prior to completing 30 college credits at CSM or another college or university. Students who participate in the program receive:

• Application fee waiver.
• Academic scholarships based on full-time enrollment (enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester):
  • Students with a 3.30-3.64 final CSM GPA will receive $1000 per year (up to $3000 total).
  • Students with a 3.65-4.0 final CSM GPA will receive $2000 per year (up to $6000 total).
• Academic scholarships based on part time enrollment (enrolled in 6-11 credits per semester)
  • Students with a 3.30-3.64 final CSM GPA will receive $500 per year (up to $1500 total).
  • Students with a 3.65-4.0 final CSM GPA will receive $1000 per year (up to $3000 total).
• All scholarships may be renewed each year for up to three years, contingent upon the students maintaining a 3.0 cumulative Temple GPA and continuous enrollment. This scholarship is separate from the New Student Transfer scholarship that may be awarded to qualified transfer students. Qualified transfer students may be eligible for both scholarships. 
• Guaranteed admission as long as students satisfy the conditions set forth in the agreement, meet application deadlines and satisfy all other regular admissions requirements as determined by Temple.

UMBC offers the following types of engineering:

• Biotechnology & Bioengineering
• Chemical Engineering
• Computer Engineering
• Environmental Engineering and Sustainability
• Mechanical Engineering (both at their main campus and at Universities at Shady Grove)

Students interested in majoring in Mechanical Engineering at UMBC must meet the gateway requirements in order to be admitted to the Mechanical Engineering program. The gateway requirements include:

• MATH-152 (CSM's MTH-1210) with a grade of "B" or better
• ENES-101 (CSM's EGR-1100) with a grade of "B" or better
• ENME-110 with a grade of "B" or better
• CHEM-101 (CSM's CHE-1200 and CHE-1200L) with a grade of "C" or better

Students are permitted to retake two of the gateway courses one time to earn the required grade. Enrolling in a gateway course at UMBC or another institution is considered an attempt. Students are not allowed to take any 300-level or 400-level Mechanical Engineering courses until the gateway requirements are fulfilled.

Repeat policy

Mechanical Engineering majors are permitted two attempts in courses required for the major, with the exception of the Gateway courses in which only two courses may be taken for a second time. They are considered registered for a course if they are enrolled after the end of the schedule adjustment period. A course in which the student receives a grade of “W” (Withdraw) is counted as an attempt. Please note that you will not be permitted a third attempt in required courses taken at UMBC or another institution. Students who have more than two attempts in any course required to progress in the major will not be permitted to major in Mechanical Engineering. This policy is applicable to transfer students.

Students interested in transferring to UMBC should participate in the Transfer Student Alliance Program. Students must apply when they have earned 12 to 35 college credits. 

 Students who participate in the TSA Program receive:

• Access to UMBC facilities and campus services including libraries and computer laboratories.
• Student activities including cultural and recreational opportunities (fee-based events will be at the expense of the student)
• Concurrently enrollment at CSM and UMBC at a 25% tuition discount for one UMBC course per term (not to exceed a total of three discounted courses).
• Upon successful completion of the Requirements detailed above, students will be eligible for the following:
  • Guaranteed transfer admission to UMBC. Please note that selected programs may have additional requirements for students to pursue the intended course of study. Students must meet all other eligibility requirements for admission to UMBC.
  • Priority advising and registration on designated New Student Orientation day.
  • Guaranteed on-campus housing in upper class student housing community upon initial matriculation.
  • $1,500 merit scholarship for each of two years of full-time study. This award can be accepted with other UMBC merit award offers.

The College of Southern Maryland has entered into an agreement with University of Maryland, College Park, to allow CSM students the opportunity to participate in the Southern Maryland ENTRY Program.

The ENTRY Program is designed to provide structured pre-transfer advising to students throughout their community college enrollment. Key elements of the program include:

• A minimum of two pre-transfer advising appointments with the transfer advisor at the A. James Clark School of Engineering (one appointment upon enrolling in ENTRY and one appointment in the semester prior to transfer).
• A minimum of two pre-transfer advising appointments with the Pre-Engineering Coordinator at CSM (one appointment upon enrolling in ENTRY and one appointment in the semester prior to transfer).
• Ongoing advising support for all students participating in the ENTRY Program.
• Targeted email communication regarding key transfer information (e.g., MTAP information, application deadline reminders, scholarship information, internship information, etc.).
• Coordination between the community college and A. James Clark School of Engineering designed to support students in their transition to the four-year school.

To be eligible for ENTRY:

• Must have earned their high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Matriculate to CSM.
• Desire to pursue an Engineering degree through the University of Maryland, College Park, at either the UMD Main Campus, the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland (USMSM), or the Universities at Shady Grove (USG).

Students may apply to ENTRY as early as their first semester at CSM and should apply no later than their second-to-last semester at CSM. Applications may be submitted on a rolling basis.

Students interested in transferring to UMD should participate in the Maryland Transfer Advantage Program. Students must apply at least one year prior to transferring to University of Maryland College Park.

Students interested in majoring in Mechanical Engineering at UMD must meet the gateway requirements in order to be admitted to the Mechanical Engineering program. The gateway requirements include:

• Completion of MATH141 (CSM's MTH-1210) with a minimum grade of B-
• Completion of PHYS161 (CSM's PHY-1210 AND PHY-1210L OR PHY-1310) with a minimum grade of B-
• Completion of CHEM135 (CHE-1350 or CHE-1210) with a minimum grade of C-

Students must possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in all courses taken at any colleges and universities. 

Technical Electives for Mechanical Engineering: CSC-2020, EGR-2200, EGR-2720, EGR-2210, EGR-2320

The following guidelines pertain to all Limited Enrollment Programs:

• Only one gateway or performance review course may be repeated to earn the required grade and that course may only be repeated once. When more than one course can satisfy a gateway requirement, taking a second course from the list will count as a repeat. Please note that a grade of "W" is considered an attempt and must be repeated.
• Students may apply once to an LEP.
• Students who were directly admitted and fail to meet the performance review criteria will be dismissed from the major and may not reapply.
• Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 after admission to an LEP. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the major.
• Any student denied admission or dismissed from the major may appeal in writing to the individual LEP.

Students interested in transferring to UMD for Aerospace Engineering should participate in the JET Program at UMD. JET is a summer program administered by the Department of Aerospace Engineering.  The primary purpose of JET is to help ease the transition for Maryland external transfer students from area community colleges and get them on a 2-year track to completing their B.S. in Aerospace Engineering.  They receive financial support to pay for a required 200 level ENAE course which is not offered at community colleges, and they take a non-credit course tailored to help them adjust to the department and UMD. The JET program is only available to transfer students who have been admitted to the A. James Clark School of Engineering for the fall semester and must be completed the summer prior to their fall enrollment.

NOTE: CSC-2020 at CSM will fulfill ENAE-202 at UMD for Aerospace Engineering majors. 

Students interested in Civil Engineering should consult Byron Brezina, Engineering Program Coordinator, to discuss course selection. 

Certain majors within the A. James Clark School of Engineering are requiring ENEE-200: Technology and Consequences: Engineering, Ethics, and Humanities at University of Maryland College Park. In September 2022, University of Maryland College Park approved CSM's SOC-2010: Technology and Society to meet the ENEE-200 requirement.

Students interested in the following programs at University of Maryland College Park (both the College Park location and the USMSM location) are encouraged to take SOC-2010 as one of their Social/Behavioral Science courses:

The College of Southern Maryland has transfer agreement with West Virginia University to create a smooth transfer between our Associate of Science in Engineering and WVU's Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering (areas of emphasis in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering), Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

Grade Requirement: Earn a C or better in the following courses: MTH-1200, MTH-1210, MTH-2200, MTH-2210, CHE-1200, CHE-1200L, ENG-1010, EGR-1100, PHY-2200, PHY-2200L.

Grade Point Average Requirement: Students must graduate with a 2.75 cumulative grade point average. 

Chemistry Requirement: Students interested in this pathway should complete CHE-1200/L and CHE-1210/L at CSM.

Technical Electives: EGR-2210, EGR-2200, EGR-2320.

• Students interested in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering can take ENGR-101 at West Virginia University Online prior to transferring while enrolled at CSM.
