Incoming Transfer Students
Transferring credits can be complex, but we’re here to help guide you on your pathway to possibility here at CSM.
To get answers to the most common questions, check out our Incoming Transfer FAQ or email us at transeval@csmd.edu. You can also get an overview—you could even say a hawk’s-eye view—of the entire transfer process with our Incoming Transfer Roadmap.
The first step to becoming a CSM student is to apply for admission.
You’ll need to create an account on our application portal. Fill in the fields with your information.
In the drop-down menu under “Choose the statement that best describes you,” select the option for “I am an undergraduate student, finished with high school.”
Once you’ve submitted your application for admission, submit your official transcript(s) and the Transcript Evaluation Request form. (See below for more information on the transcript evaluation process.)
A strong start in your first semester builds momentum and confidence. To ensure the best fit with your current knowledge and abilities, you can either have your previous college coursework evaluated as part of the transfer process or take the CSM Placement Test. (If your transcript evaluation hasn’t been completed by the start date of your courses, you will be required to take the Placement Test to be eligible for the class.)
Before registering, you’ll need to meet with an academic advisor for expert guidance on how to navigate your CSM experience.
The transcript evaluation process can take up to 20 business days; while you wait, contact the Advising Office at your preferred CSM campus and arrange to meet with an advisor.
Your advisor will work with you to make a plan for your first semester at CSM and your next steps. Then you’ll be ready to take the next step on your pathway to possibility.
If you have any questions about registration, check out these helpful registration resources.
Prerequisite Waivers
If you’d like to register for your courses while you wait for your transcript evaluation process to wrap up, ask an academic advisor to explore the option of requesting a Prerequisite Waiver. If approved, the waiver will allow you to register for courses that have prerequisites while your evaluation is still pending.
