Visiting Students

Visiting Students

We’re pleased to welcome visiting students who want to take CSM classes to earn credits to transfer to their home institution.

Visiting students are current college students who are enrolled at another institution and are not pursuing a degree at CSM. Our visiting students often take classes during our summer or winter terms while they are on break from a four-year college or university, with the goal of transferring the credits to count toward a bachelor’s degree program at their main school.

Taking classes as a visiting student is a fantastic opportunity to both earn college credits and to complete required courses—all at a fraction of the per-credit cost of a four-year institution.

2. Check College Readiness

To ensure the best fit with your current knowledge and abilities, you can either submit an unofficial transcript from your home institution or take the CSM Placement Test

3. Register for Classes

Before registering, you’ll need to meet with an academic advisor for expert guidance on how to make the most of your time as a visiting student at CSM.

Once you’re accepted to CSM, register for your classes and take the next step on your pathway to possibility.

If a CSM course you’d like to register for has a prerequisite, you’ll need to provide an unofficial transcript from your home institution showing that your previous coursework fulfills the requirement, as well as complete CSM’s Prerequisite Waiver with Advising. If your home institution’s course is not currently in CSM’s database, you’ll need to provide that course’s syllabus so that CSM can verify that it meets the requirements.

Next Steps on the Road to Success

When you enroll at CSM, you’ll gain access to a wealth of financial assistance opportunities to keep college affordable for you.

If you are planning to use financial aid, you must declare a major similar to the major at your primary/degree-granting institution. Financial aid will not be awarded without a major being declared.

To learn about financial assistance, get more information on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), calculate the cost of your CSM education, and much more, visit our Costs and Aid page.

We’re glad to have you at CSM, and we hope it’ll be an exciting and rewarding leg of your journey toward reaching your college and career goals. "Hawk: Ready!" New Student Orientation will introduce you to the college and provide you with the information you need to excel here at the college.

Arrange to pay your semester bill by the payment due date.

You can pay your balance in full or enroll in the CSM Tuition Payment Plan to pay your bill in monthly installments—a convenient, interest-free way to budget your expenses. The monthly payment plan isn’t a loan program, so there’s no credit check.
