    • Complete the Associate of Arts in General Studies: Communication or the Associate of Arts in General Studies: Media Studies.
  • For the Computer Science Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Science in Computer Science.
  • For the Criminal Justice Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Arts in General Studies: Criminal Justice or the Associate of Applied Science in Law Enforcement.
  • For the Cybersecurity Management and Policy Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Applied Science in Cybersecurity with a concentration in Information Assurance.
  • For the Cybersecurity Technology (formerly Computer Networks and Cybersecurity) Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Applied Science in Cybersecurity.
  • For the Data Science Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Science in Computer Science.
  • For the English Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Arts in General Studies: English.
  • For the General Studies Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Arts in General Studies: Communication, Associate of Arts in General Studies: English, or the Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science Technology.
    • Note: transfer credits from the Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute can be applied to this degree map for students in the Fire Science Technology program at CSM.
  • For the Graphic Communication Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Arts in General Studies: Media Studies
  • For the Homeland Security Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Applied Science in Homeland Security.
  • For the Human Resource Management Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Applied Science in Business Management. 
  • For the Information Systems Management Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Applied Science in Information Systems.
  • For the Laboratory Management Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology. 
  • For the Management Information Systems (formerly Information Systems Management) Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Applied Science in Business Management: Technology Management Concentration.
  • For the Management Studies Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Science in Business Administration or the Associate of Applied Science in Business Management. 
  • For the Marketing Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Digital Marketing Management. 
  • For the Nursing Associate-to-Bachelor's (ATB) Agreement, CSM students must:
    • Contact Mona Weber, ATB/Dual Admissions BSN Coordinator, rvweber@csmd.edu to discuss the program plan. 
    • Meet application requirements for CSM as a degree seeking student during the time they are enrolled in the AS degree portion of the curriculum.
    • Complete all of the general education requirements before starting the Associate of Science in Nursing curriculum.
    • Meet the application requirements for UMGC as a degree-seeking student during the entire time they are enrolled in the associate-to-Bachelor's option.
    • Dually enroll at CSM and UMGC for the time period during which they are earning their AS degree in Nursing.
    • Pass the NCLEX in order to continue at UMGC.

  • For the Nursing RN to BSN Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must: 
    • Complete the Associate of Science in Nursing.
    • Possess an unencumbered RN license.
    • Complete the following courses either prior to enrolling at UMGC or completed the first semester at UMGC:
      • PSY-1010 at CSM (UMGC's PSYC-100)
      • SOC-1010 at CSM (UMGC's SOCY-100)
      • BIO-2070 and BIO-2070L at CSM (UMGC's BIOL-201)
      • BIO-2080 and BIO-2080L at CSM (UMGC's BIOL-202)
      • BIO-2010 and BIO-2010L at CSM (UMGC's BIOL-230)
      • ITS-1010 and ITS-1050 at CSM (UMGC's Any computer course)
      • MTH-1015 at CSM (UMGC's STAT-200)
  • For the Psychology Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Arts in Arts and Sciences: Social Sciences. 
  • For the Public Safety Administration Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science Technology.
    • Note: transfer credits from the Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute can be applied to this degree map.
  • For the Software Development and Security Degree Map (UMGC's version of a transfer agreement), CSM students must:
    • Complete the Associate of Science in Computer Science.
  • For the Degree Forward Agreement:
    • UMGC will accept students who have attended or graduated from the College of Southern Maryland with an associate Degree if the students completed and submitted UMGC's application for admission and have met UMGC's admission criteria.
    • Accept all of the general education coursework from CSM and apply those credits towards the requirements of the Bachelor's degree at UMGC.
    • Accept a minimum of 60 credits that the student earned at CSM.
    • Provide Dual Admission Program graduates junior class status (60-70 credits) with respect to registration)
    • Accept up to 45 credits in transfer through CSM's documented prior learning and high school articulation agreements, as applied to the Associate degree. 
    • Provide full-time students admitted to UMGC with third year (junior) status the opportunity to complete a bachelor's degree at UMGC within two academic years provided the student completes the appropriate associate degree at CSM and completes and appropriately sequences his/her remaining course work at UMGC.
  • For the Nursing Associate-to-Bachelor's (ATB) Agreement:
    • Students who are eligible for admission to the ATB Nursing program will receive the “ATB Special Discount” rate for UMGC courses. The discounted rate will be equivalent to the rate offered through UMGC's Maryland Completion Scholarship.

Financial Aid Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I am receiving federal or state financial aid. How will participating in UMGC's ATB Program impact my financial aid? While you are taking classes at CSM, your financial aid will be processed through CSM's financial aid office. Only CSM courses will be eligible for financial aid through CSM. You should contact UMGC's financial aid office to see what options are available to assist with your UMGC courses. 
  2. I am receiving Veterans' Benefits to assist with paying for my tuition. How will participating in UMGC's ATB Program impact my VA Benefits? While you are taking classes at CSM, CSM's Veterans staff will process your CSM class enrollment. You should contact UMGC's Veterans office to determine how to use your VA benefits for UMGC classes.
