Student members of the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Business and Accounting Club enjoyed a visit with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs organization in Waldorf last week. Students got a unique opportunity Sept. 5 to learn about the behind-the-scenes operations of running a successful sporting organization and stadium.

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Assistant General Manager Trevor Lakins and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Sales Account Executive Ryan Webster provided the tour for the students, who also got to watch a game from their own suite behind home plate. Ten CSM Business and Accounting Club students, including two Charles County Public Schools Early College participants, attended the tour.

“The students had great questions and received valuable information about internships,” shared CSM Assistant Business Professor Dr. Kandace Foreman, who also serves as the club’s faculty advisor.

The CSM Business and Accounting Club aims to create an environment that encourages and supports a business mindset, develops an entrepreneurial spirit, and establishes opportunities to develop contacts and relationships in the business and accounting worlds with a goal of helping students build economic mobility in their future careers.

CSM Business and Accounting Club participants help shape the types of events and programs the club offers, and, in the process, receive real-world business skills in planning, management, promotion, fiscal responsibilities, and communication. Students also benefit from leadership opportunities, networking, and a fun time. All CSM students are welcome to join the club regardless of their field of study.
