A full field of golfers is expected to converge on Swan Point Country Club in Issue, Aug. 8, for the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Foundation’s 33rd annual Golf Classic. For the CSM Foundation, it’s a day dedicated to securing vital funds for scholarships and initiatives that open doors for promising Southern Maryland students.
As the CSM Foundation’s Golf Classic enters its 33rd year, the CSM Foundation and the event's Grand Tournament Sponsor, Educational Systems Federal Credit Union (ESFCU) have much to celebrate, including a long history of partnerships that have impacted hundreds of students.
Over its lifetime, this signature event has brought together golf enthusiasts, college alumni, community leaders and the business community to raise more than $1.4 million.
Those who want to join in the festivities but would prefer not to golf in the tournament may wish to sign up for the event’s annual Sip & Swing.
“You don’t have to play a full round of golf to have the best time at our Golf Classic,” explained CSM Foundation Interim Director Toni Kruszka. “For the eighth year in a row, the popular Sip & Swing will occur simultaneously with the Golf Classic, beginning at noon. Open to first-time golfers and experienced players, the Sip & Swing offers participants a putting challenge while enjoying expert guidance.”
Kruszka added that the Sip & Swing includes tasting a selection of locally sourced wine and delectable food pairings, as well as the chance to paint your own masterpiece on a wine bottle that participants can take home with them.
There is still plenty of room for anyone wanting to sign up for the Sip & Swing. Preregistration is required. Learn more at https://www.csmd.edu/foundation/news-events/sip-and-swing-2024.html.
The Golf Classic is being organized for the second consecutive year by tournament chair CSM Foundation Director and Trustee Emeritus Ted Harwood, who is heading up a committee that includes fellow foundation directors Brenda Lowe, Kim Rosenfield, Dixie Miller, Samantha Stratchko, Mary Hannah, and Foundation Director Emeritus Jay Lilly and a group of dedicated CSM staff members.
For sponsors, the tournament is a chance to support the CSM and its students while enjoying visibility and enthusiasm for their enterprises.
