For as long as humans have existed, we’ve strived to push the limits of our physical potential. Prepare for a career in a variety of sport- and fitness-related fields with CSM’s wellness, fitness, and sports programs.
We offer several programs to prepare students for careers in exercise science or sport management, including degree programs in exercise and sport science and sport management, a fitness manager certificate, and a personal trainer letter of recognition.

The Exercise and Sport Science degree is designed as a transfer program for completion of a bachelor’s degree within the field of Exercise Science/Kinesiology.
The major programs in Exercise and Sport Science prepare students for a variety of possible careers in medicine, athletic training, physical therapy, allied health occupations, fitness and sport enterprises, education, sport science and coaching, and other related fields.
With the completion of a bachelor’s degree, employment can be obtained as athletic trainers, physical education teachers, exercise and sport science specialists in various settings (corporation, hospital, sport medicine clinic, YMCA, community recreation, government, military, sport teams).
Many graduates go on to schools majoring in sport medicine (physical therapy, athletic training, or other medical specialties) or specialized areas of exercise science (adult fitness and cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, exercise psychology, biomechanics, etc.).
This transfer degree provides students with the opportunity to examine the dynamic field of sports in relation to business, society, leadership, human development, and management.
The degree is appropriate for students interested in careers within the fields of athletic and recreation administration, the fitness industry, college and professional sports, business, and retail marketing. Students completing the program will gain knowledge in general business practices, program management, leadership, and decision making. This program is fully available online.
This certificate provides the necessary knowledge and skills to students entering the fitness and recreation fields by preparing them to become a nationally certified personal trainer or group fitness instructor. The certificate also provides the scope and vision of the field and introduces basic legal and risk management issues and introductory business skills and knowledge.
The student can progress to other programs of study within the field that focus on developing management/business principles and lead to advancement in the field of sport management.
This certificate provides the necessary knowledge and skills to students progressing in the fitness and recreation fields by preparing them to become a nationally certified personal trainer or group fitness instructor. The certificate also provides the scope and vision of the field and introduces basic legal and risk management issues and introductory business skills and knowledge.
Additionally, students learn about nutrition, physical training and the psychology and sociology of sport. The student can progress to other programs of study within the field that focus on developing management/business principles and lead to advancement in the field of sport management.
Students enter the fitness and recreation fields by preparing to become a nationally certified personal trainer. In addition to gaining the knowledge and skills necessary for employment as a personal trainer, they also develop awareness of basic legal and risk management issues. After completing this letter of recognition students may choose to progress to related certificates or the sport management degree in order to advance in the field.
