Transfer Opportunities
CSM has the following transfer agreements for the Criminal Justice, AA:
The Criminal Justice program option is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution and to complete a bachelor's degree in criminology, criminal justice, or one of the many related fields. It prepares students who plan to ultimately serve the community on a local, state, or national level in the fields of law enforcement, parole and probation, juvenile justice, corrections, or criminal justice research.
These programs enable students to qualify for positions as police, security, or corrections officers and also serves those already in the field who wish to update or advance their skills.
They also provide several opportunities for civilian personnel; evidence technician, social worker, substance abuse counselor, child support agency worker, law librarian, etc., and serve as a strong foundation for journalist, politicians, and community leaders.
People working in the fields of criminal justice, law enforcement, and security management must know how to interact with other agencies, work well with people on a daily basis, communicate clearly in writing and orally, work with data, investigate and present cases in court or to management, and plan and organize agency operations.

This program provides sufficient knowledge to prepare students for entry-level positions and also serves those already working in the field who wish to update their skills. The student who wishes to earn an associate of arts degree in criminal justice may build upon the courses in the certificate program. Cooperative education is available in this program.

This course sequence prepares students for entry-level employment in various areas of the criminal justice profession. It also prepares students who are in-service police officers or involved in other areas of the criminal justice profession for promotion to higher levels of supervision and responsibility.
