Happy Holidays from CSM! Campuses close December 20 at 3 p.m. for Winter Break and reopen January 2, 2025. View the Academic Calendar for more important dates.
The Chiaramonte family named the college’s Science and Technology building on the La Plata Campus in honor of their father, Dr. Francis P. Chiaramonte. This $1 million gift is the largest private gift in the college’s history.
"Dad gave for the right reasons, and typically did so anonymously. This time, we were interested in doing something for his legacy. Dad has given so much to the community of Southern Maryland, I thought it fitting to immortalize his name." -Michael Chiaramonte, President and Chief Executive Officer of ProFlex Physical Therapy
A wing of the Community Education Building is named “The Proctor Family Wing in Honor of Steve and Carolyn Proctor,” in recognition of the $250,000 bequest to the CSM Foundation made by Gregory S. Proctor, Jr. and Dianne Proctor as a tribute to his parents, for whom education is a priority.
"CSM provides both an excellent academic and social education, and for many folks in our community CSM is their only option to achieve a college education. We want to reach out to students for whom finances might be an impediment to education." - Gregory S. Proctor Jr., President and CEO of G.S. Proctor & Associates, Inc.
Family members, including, from left, Taylor Ann Bowen, Julie Bowen, Marianne Harms, Peggy Denton, Jennifer Lund and Gordon Buchanan and Courtney Buchanan, stand in front of the named John E. Harms Academic Center at CSM’s Prince Frederick Campus.
Celebrating the renaming of three areas in the Community Education Building to honor the Lilly family from left are CSM Faculty Emeriti and Former Dean of Arts and Sciences Josephine Williams, Joel Lilly '76, Jay Lilly '75, Chris Lilly, Mary Lilly and former CSM Academic Advisor Maryland Del. Edith Patterson. Brothers and CSM alumni Jay and Joel Lilly, and Jay’s wife, Mary Lilly, were recognized for their legacy planned gifts in support of CSM Foundation scholarships in the amount of $250,000 each, totaling more than $500,000. The various rooms were named in honor of them, and in memory of Jay and Joel’s parents Ethelmae and Reuben.
“CSM provided a great foundation for both Joel and I... It is our pleasure and honor to make this legacy gift.” - Jay Lilly
Impacting the lives of its students and the community is the mission of the College of Southern Maryland’s Foundation. Recognizing our generous donors with a naming opportunity is a wonderful way to perpetuate their legacy while impacting the lives of students.
Donors can choose to name a room, a wing, a building, or even a scholarship for themselves or loved ones. Naming gifts generally range from $5,000 to $1 million for classroom, spaces, and buildings that will honor a donor and their generosity to CSM.
Building and room naming opportunities are available on all CSM campuses. For more information, please contact the Foundation at 301-934-7647 or foundation@csmd.edu.
