Graduates of the Medical Assisting program are prepared to function as multi-skilled workers in different healthcare settings.
Medical assistants manage office responsibilities in physicians' offices, clinics, medical departments in industry and government, and other ambulatory care centers. Graduates prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, obtain specimens, and administer medications under the supervision of a physician. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) examination.

This workforce training certificate is also an eligible program for the Workforce Sequence Scholarship.

The CCMA to RMA Pathway is a seamless progression that enables students to quickly break into and advance in a rewarding career in medical assisting.
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) workforce training certificate: Acquire the foundational knowledge and skills to sit for the National Healthcareer Association’s CCMA national certification exam and be ready for entry-level positions—in just three months.
- Medical Assisting Certificate: Expand your professional expertise and access further career opportunities with CSM’s Medical Assisting Certificate program. Prepare for the Registered Medical Assistant national certification exam with this 12-month, 34-credit academic program.
Students who complete CSM’s CCMA workforce training certificate and earn the NHA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant credential will receive academic credit through the certification verification process for the following courses:
- HEA-1751 (1 Credit)
- HEA-1100 (1 Credit)
- MED-1410 (3 credits)
