CSM and the Smithsonian Institution are seeking volunteer docents for the SPARK! Places of Innovation exhibit, May 17 to June 29, at the Velocity Center at Indian Head. This interactive, multilingual tour explores the unique combination of places, people, and circumstances that act as catalysts for innovation in regions like Southern Maryland. You’ll welcome visitors, provide guided tours, answer questions, and help visitors have an unforgettable experience. No prior experience is necessary—just your enthusiasm!

Feb. 24, join Merideth Taylor—founding member of the African and African Diaspora and Women’s Studies programs at St. Mary’s College of Maryland—and CSM English professor Caitlyn Socrates as they discuss African American history in Southern Maryland, as well as Taylor’s new book, “Making a Way Out of No Way: Lives of Labor, Love, and Resistance.”

On March 8, CSM welcomes pianist Rie Moore for the latest installment of the Benny C. Morgan Concert Series. Moore is an award-winning musician who teaches on the faculty at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, as well as working as a collaborative accompanist with the Ballet Caliente classical dance studio.

NEED A REFRESHER BEFORE YOUR EXAMS? The best time to ask for help with your classes is before you get your grades back! CSM offers free in-person and online tutoring and academic support for whatever you need help with through the Learning Support Services Centers, including the Math Resource Center and Writing Center. Avoid last-minute cramming and those heart-stopping unexpected surprises during exams by preparing and practicing now!
