ANNOUNCEMENTS
FEBRUARY IS AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH
African American History Month honors the struggles and victories that changed, and continue to change, America. First framed by historian and author Dr. Carter G. Woodson nearly a century ago, it has developed into a monthlong commemoration of the struggles and triumphs of the African American community. Explore the National Archives and Records Administration’s wealth of material documenting the African American experience in American society.

SHOW YOUR #CSMLOVE ALL MONTH LONG
February is the month for CSM Love! Join us as we feature students, staff, faculty, alumni, and others on why and what they love about CSM. Stay tuned on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for spotlights, fun facts, games, and more. Want to be featured? Send us a quote on why or what you love about CSM, a photo, or a video of what you love about CSM to marketing@csmd.edu or join the conversation using the hashtag #CSMLove —and be sure to tag us!
REGISTER TO VOTE AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD
On Election Day, Nov. 8, 2022, Marylanders will vote on dozens of elected officials, including state legislators, a U.S. senator, eight congressional representatives, four judges, and our governor and lieutenant governor. Go to www.csmd.edu/Vote and register to vote, check your registration, and find resources on the offices and candidates.
Your vote matters—and probably more than you think. In 2016, less than two-thirds of voting-age Americans voted; in 2020, it was 67%. Decisions get made by those who show up, and if you want to be heard, you have to raise your voice.
NO-COST HAWK PANTRIES ARE OPEN MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND THURSDAY

This service is strictly confidential.

REAL STUDENTS, REAL STORIES: IN THEIR OWN WORDS
This week, hear from Kia Smith ’22, alum and student speaker from the Class of Winter 2022:
I’ve learned that no one path is a straight shot to the finish line, and that no matter how many mistakes, hiccups, or bumps you’ve endured – you … we … me … all of us must just keep going.
Through trials and tribulations, highs and lows, those butterflies in our stomach we just can’t seem to shake, those scared, nervous, and anxious feelings or whatever else may come your way–even if you must do a complete course change like I did–many successes await us.
Always remember, to keep going. After all, how can any of us say the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon?
Watch Kia’s full graduation speech.
