"Engineers get to build the world they want to see, and that is exactly what I want to do: help people while doing something I enjoy.
I am originally from Uganda, where I grew up and spent most of my life. I moved here in 2017 to live with my family and continue with my education.
Both my brothers were already enrolled at CSM and they encouraged me to come here. They had obtained so many scholarships and had great connections with their professors, so I felt really secure in my decision to attend CSM.
Originally, I was interested in public health and the medical field. However, after attending a couple of seminars organized by the Engineering Club and speaking to people in the field, I switched my major and to this day I am proud and happy with the decision I made.
I have honestly had the best experiences with all my engineering professors. The classes are sometimes difficult, but they are always willing to work with each student at their different pace.
At the beginning of 2021, I unfortunately lost my father to COVID-19. It was definitely overwhelming for me: the loss, helping out at home, school, and traveling to Uganda to lay my father to rest.
As tight as the situation was, my professors, friends, and advisors always kept me strong. They encouraged me to keep going, and they gave me all the time I needed to catch up with school. I am also very grateful for our club advisor, Jehnell Linkins, who always called to check up on me.
In the difficult times I went through, I honestly felt so loved and cared for by the CSM family and would not have made it through if not for their love and support."
