About
I am a proud graduate of CSM's esteemed nursing program. During my career, I have had the privilege of working in some of the region's leading hospitals, including the prestigious R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. My experience spans various intensive care units, with a particular specialization in trauma care.
I've been happily married to my wonderful husband for 23 years. Together, we share our home with two dogs, two cats, and a vibrant parrot. We both cherish the opportunity to travel and explore new places whenever we can.
Educational Background
I completed my Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) at the College of Southern Maryland in December 2006, where I was honored with the Academic Achievement Award. Subsequently, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Stevenson University in December 2021, graduating summa cum laude. I have begun graduate studies and aspire to secure admission into a doctoral program in the near future.Q&A
I consider myself to have a non-traditional, facilitative style of teaching. I'm deeply passionate about nursing and strive to ignite that same love and dedication in my students. While I hold high expectations for them, I'm also strict because I believe in their potential and will do everything I can to help them succeed. My teaching style is rooted in my commitment to supporting and challenging my students to excel in this demanding yet rewarding profession.
In the last year, I have completed two Spanish immersion courses in Costa Rica in an effort to improve my language skills to better serve my non-English speaking patients.
As a faculty member at CSM, I consider my greatest achievement to be the inspiration I instill in each of my students during our clinical rotations. I take pride in offering real-world patient experiences and tailor my approach to develop each student individually, nurturing their personal motivation for pursuing a career in nursing.
I currently work at a small community hospital, but am soon moving back into a dedicated ICU position at a major DC hospital because I miss the high-level acuity.
As a graduate of CSM, I can attest to the excellent nursing program it offers. CSM provides a diverse range of courses, reflecting its commitment to delivering a comprehensive education. This program enhances students' knowledge and skills, but also prepares them effectively for the demands of the nursing profession.
I recommend students take my class because of my commitment to fostering a transformative learning experience. I set high expectations to challenge students to reach their full potential while providing individual attention to support their growth. By addressing the unique motivations of each student, I create a dynamic learning environment where every individual feels valued and empowered to succeed.
