About
I'm a small town, family-oriented person with a variety of interests who values friendships and new learning experiences.
Educational Background
I've lived in St. Mary's County most of my life, so I'm an alum of Great Mills High School, College of Southern Maryland, St. Mary's College of Maryland, and Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Q&A
I'm more like a coach. I believe teamwork helps students feel more comfortable completing assignments, although I also use individual assignments to strengthen skills. Giving detailed instructions and providing models help students beginning new assignments, and spending time learning and completing assignments in class allows me to support students by answering their questions.
If I'm not at home, school, or church, you might find me at the movies, in a coffee or tea shop, or visiting new places to sample local cuisine. I love music—playing and directing English handbells, attending concerts of many different styles, and dancing. I belong to two book clubs, and I especially like reading historical fiction. I love sharing these experiences with family and friends, new and old.
I volunteer at my church, editing newsletter articles and other kinds of texts for church staff.
Each student comes to a class with something to learn and something to contribute. No two classes are the same. I know what it's like to attend community college while balancing other responsibilities, and I'm on their team.
