About
I have been teaching theater for the past 36 years, and here at CSM since 2012. I started the theater program at Chopticon High School, starting from scratch with a $200 loan. I laughingly call myself a generalist, as I deliberately set out in my undergrad work to be competent at everything; I wanted to teach it all and run a successful one-person program.
I am a mom and grandma who retired from full-time teaching in 2015. Besides theater, I love gardening, reading, design, and helping my students succeed.
Educational Background
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dramatic Literature and English from Dickinson College. My master’s is in education and supervision from George Washington University.
Q&A
I teach online classes. My classes are designed to teach students with different learning styles, so I use a combination of reading, slide shows, and clips, with discussions and lots of examples. I make sure that I am available by phone to help my students when needed. I enjoy the one-on-one time that I have with students to get their questions answered and clear up any confusion. Having taught 30 years in public school, I set up my classes with easy to follow checklists and content that logically builds skills.
I was recipient of the 2020 Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award from CSM.
I am retired from full-time work and spend my time as a full-time grandma. I also volunteer at my church.
