Join us for a FREE, family-friendly event celebrating creativity, curiosity, and hands-on discovery! The Art of Innovation – STEAM Festival highlights science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) through interactive exhibits, engaging demonstrations, and performances for all ages.

 

What to Expect:

Visual Art Exhibit – Explore incredible student artwork in a curated exhibit by the College of Southern Maryland.

Mobile Discovery Labs & Outdoor Exhibits – Step into the mobile lab from the Charles County Public Library, plus enjoy hands on fun with Charles County Parks & Recreation, and meet local science and aviation organizations, including:

  • Southern Maryland Astronomical Society
  • Charles Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol

Live Performances & Presentations – Enjoy live dance from the Phoenix International School of the Arts, musical performances by the CSM Ensemble, and a writing workshop by Life Journeys Writers Guild. Don’t miss a special presentation by a herpetologist with live reptiles!

Interactive Exhibit Hall – Dive into hands-on activities with local partners like:

  • NOAA’s Mallows Bay-Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary
  • CSM’s School of STEM and Professional Studies
  • Charles County Amateur Radio Club
  • Pure Play Every Day, Inc.
  • Drones and aviation displays from the Charles County Radio Control Club

Workshops & Maker Activities – Visit the Makerspace for a “Light It Up” electronics workshops (PCB soldering and switch-building) and join the Charles County Public Library’s popular “STEAM Make and Take” sessions offered throughout the day.

**Registration is required for the Light It Up workshop. Must be 11 or older (11- to 15-year-olds must be accompanied by someone 16 or older) Light it Up Workshop Registration

Free Treats and Face Painting – Cool down with complimentary ice cream and enjoy free face painting for kids!

Come be inspired, make something new, and explore the innovation happening right here in Southern Maryland. Bring the whole family for a fun-filled day of learning, exploration, and creativity!
