Whatever your goals for yourself, find your path to educational and professional achievement at CSM. Earn your associate degree, earn credits for transfer, or take advantage of our many partnerships and articulation agreements on your way to your bachelor’s degree. An education that can take you anywhere starts here.
Steps to Enroll
Your CSM education begins with a three-step process: apply to CSM, check your college readiness, and register for your classes.
2. Check College Readiness
A strong start in your first semester builds momentum and confidence. Find the courses that fit your knowledge and abilities by: taking the CSM Placement Test; submitting your scores from the SAT, ACT, GED, or Advanced Placement standardized tests; providing your high school transcript; or showing completion of prior college-level English or Mathematics coursework.
3. Register for Classes
Once you’re accepted to CSM, register for your classes and start turning promise and potential into reality.
Next Steps on the Road to Success

- International Students
If you have not earned college credits before applying to CSM, you are a new, first-time student. Applying as a new, first-time student doesn’t require additional steps or information aside from what’s mentioned above.
We want to make it simple to pick up where you left off with your studies.
If you are currently enrolled at another institution, you can take courses at CSM and transfer the credits you’ve earned back to your home institution.
- If you are a new student, you will need to submit an admissions application. After your application is confirmed, you will be issued a student ID number.
- If you are planning to use financial aid, you must declare a major similar to the major at your primary/degree-granting institution. Financial aid will not be awarded without a major being declared.
- Email advisor@csmd.edu, visit Advising on-campus, or call the Hawk Hub at 301-934-7574 to meet with an academic advisor.
- If course has a pre-req, you must provide an unofficial transcript and complete a Pre-Req Waiver Form. If pre-req is not currently in CSM database, a syllabus will be required.
- After the steps above have been successfully completed, you will be granted permission to register.
Current high school students can take classes to earn college credit while still in high school, before graduating.

If you’ve previously earned college credits from another institution and want to transfer to CSM, you’ll need to submit your official transcript and a transcript evaluation request form. The evaluation process can take four to six weeks, so be sure to submit your transcripts and the evaluation request in a timely manner.
