Payment Policy
- If you register before the payment due date, your full amount owed is due on the payment date listed above.
- If you register on or after the payment due date, you must pay in full or meet one of the other options listed below on the day you register.
- If you register on or after the first day of class, you are financially responsible for your course(s). Please see the refund schedule for more information.
- If you do not meet your unpaid financial obligations in full by the payment due date, you may be dropped from your last class(es) added until your balance due is zero or less. While CSM strives to proactively adjust registration due to nonpayment, it is ultimately your responsibility to adjust your course schedule. Failure to do so will obligate you for any outstanding balances.
By the Payment Due Date you must:
- Pay in full online using MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express or e-check.
- Pay in full by cash, credit card, check, or money order in-person by visiting a convenient campus location.
- Have sufficient approved and processed financial aid to cover any outstanding balance.
- Enroll in the CSM Tuition Payment Plan online. Questions may be emailed to paymentplan@csmd.edu. The down payment is due at the time of enrollment in the payment plan. If the down payment is not made, you may be removed from the payment plan.
- Have approved and processed tuition assistance paperwork to cover the balance. Visit Third-party or Employer-paid Registration for more information. Paperwork and questions can be emailed to tap@csmd.edu.
The college reserves the right to withdraw a student for nonpayment, but it is ultimately the student's responsibility to withdraw from classes if they do not want to be held financially responsible.
Additional Policies
Credit students: Your residency status determines whether you pay in-county, in-state, or out-of-state tuition. When you first apply to CSM, the Admissions Office determines your status based on the information you submit on your application. Your initial residency classification can only be changed if you file a Residency Change Form no later than 30 days after the college's determination.
If your residency classification changes while attending CSM, the change form and all required documents must be filed prior to the first day of classes for the term you wish to attend.
The change in classification isn't retroactive -- it goes into effect beginning in the term for which you filed. You can only file an application once each term.
The burden of proving you qualify as an in-county or in-state resident rests on you. If you do not provide complete and timely information, your request may be denied.
Read the complete residency policy in the appendices of CSM's current catalog.
To update your address, telephone or email on file, please complete an Update Contact information Form and bring the form into any of our four campus locations OR mail the completed form to College of Southern Maryland, ATTN: Call Center, P. O. Box 910, La Plata, MD 20646-0910.
Continuing Education students: To be eligible for in-county or in-state rates, please sign a statement on the Continuing Education Registration form certifying that you've lived at your current address for at least three consecutive months. Adjustments of tuition will not be made once the class starts, even if you move.
If you have questions or wish to review your residency status, contact the Admissions Office at 301-934-7520 or 301-475-6707, ext. 7520.
