Course Description

Legal Secretary Certificate

Law firms rely on trained secretaries and assistants to handle day-to-day operations such as preparing legal correspondence, summonses, motions, and subpoenas. This intensive program is for both beginning and experienced secretaries. The legal process and the nature of the practice of law, ethics, and specific legal terminology will be covered. As well as the intricacies of the law office, including office procedure manuals, billing techniques, and overall management techniques of the law. Students will also be introduced to the basics of legal research and proper citation format. 

This completely online course is offered in partnership with The Center for Legal Studies (CLS). A syllabus and list of the required textbooks can be found on the CLS website:
